All images featured on this site are available in the public domain. Above is an image of the Whitby Abbey in North Yorkshire, England. Founded in the mid-7th century, with its gothic features added in the 13th century, the Abbey is a monument of medieval Anglo-Saxon culture! To the left is Petra -- a prehistoric site in modern-day Jordan with historical ties that cross between many great civilizations.
